Many manufacturers of wood products extend some effort to be environmentally responsible, Johnson Premium Hardwood Flooring takes environmental responsibility to a new level. Besides practicing strict Sustainable Forestry Practices, Johnson also takes these steps:

• 30-40% of exotic timber comes from aged or fallen timbers. Aging trees block the sunlight, and therefore limit the growth of younger, oxygen producing trees.
• Approximately 70% of the product line is of an engineered construction. As compared to solids, this gives a 4-5 times better yield on valuable lumber.
• Johnson operates within the guidelines of IBAMA Forestry Initiatives (Brazilian Environment & Renewable Resource Institute), and is the recipient of various IBAMA Forest Management Projects.
• Employs a comprehensive Supplier Certification Program  for all sourced lumber. This helps to insure that suppliers demonstrate their commitment to environmentally conscious timber procurement.
• The adhesive used in engineered floors meets the stringent German E-1 standard for Formaldehyde emissions.
• Only water based finishes on all products.
